Itīs a semi too long didnīt read post so you are free to hop to the last paragraph for conclusion. Many veteran players of Burning legion remember that before Excesse was made, there were several other guilds around. A big part of us played in Battlegrounders, a pretty big guild that disbanded after a several runs in the Molten core. Other part came from Finnish Atrocity. 3 years ago, on 15th of June. Excesse was made by a simple merge. Guild had mediocre success in Molten core (Ragnaros server 3rd, after Nihilum and Infernal Affairs) but we struggled. BWL rocked for us, we had some great times while doing Razorgore and Vael with massive lag. Luckily for us, the first migrations came and when majority of Alliance and Horde guilds decided to part their ways and go to Magtheridon, we remained. In the end, this proved to be a good decision as this allowed us to prosper. If I remember correctly, BWL was cleared second or third on server with a minimum turnover of players. Opening of AHQ40 was a fun even for us, I think there is still a video or two circulating around. For the first time we had problem with players who didnīt want to wipe in new instance. The choice was made that we focus on PVE and we kicked out around 10 players, members and veterans alike and did some major restructuring. During that time server had major lag issues, even worse than during BWL times. For the record, when we were doing Twin Emperors, we had 30 mins of stable server, than crash. Majority of guilds gave up but Excesse killed the Twins during those 30 minutes of stability. After we killed Cīthun for some weird reason (great idea Son!) we went for Viscidus which in the end proved to be an amazing idea as we were the only guild who managed to clear whole AHQ40 for a long, long time. The the Naxx came and for the first time, we faced problems with quality of our ranks. Healers were mediocre at best (Druids were a major problem), DPS was low and overall skill was in decline. Yet somehow, after killing Maexxna, we managed to pull through. After Patchwerk, it was suddenly easy to recruit and cross realm migrations (paid ones) became reality. Bosses fell one after another, players changed. The last three bosses in Naxx were a huge challenge, yet for some reason, we had little problems. There was a huge drama after we killed The Four Horsemen in 3 days since we got modded RDX and tactics from one of our friends but hey, if killing bosses was only about tactics, anyone would do it. Sapphiron was killed in 2 days and I think our biggest success ever, KelīThuzad in a reset or two, before patch 2.0 came. Kel died on 03.12.2006@23:30 - Excesse last try. Towards the Burning Crusade, we lost a lot of players but new recruits filled the spots nicely. We had amazing fun leveling and questing. We had some minor problems with players as alongside the way, we lost several veterans. Yet, we managed to kill Nightbane with both tower teams, Maulgar and Gruul. We lost those bosses to Doomed but got server first on Kazzak, Doomwalker and Magtheridon. And then we sprang into action, SSC rocked for us and we didnīt have any major problems. We even had Lady Vashj down to 33% before the patch that nerfed her. We killed prenerf TK25 bosses with exception of Kael. After the patch, Lady died very fast and Kael followed after 5 days of hardcore wiping - on 8th of June. Black Temple soon followed and we were quite happy to get the īhardest instanceī as Blizzard proclaimed it. Yet, it was another bleak failure with some nice bosses. We cleaned it from bottom to top in 2 months with little or no problems on any of the bosses, roster was doing great. Then the big farming came which eventually killed Excesse. Mind you, I wont do any naming and shaming here, if you recognize yourself in my words, well, I guess it was you. Around 10 months of doing Black Temple and Mount Hyjal took a heavy toll on people and raiding 2 days per week made us lazy. Officers did a huge mistake by not recruiting more during that time but players as well made it difficult with īDonīt recruit, we have enough of playersī ideas. Even though we did recruit, it was too late. We had too good gear for the instance and by the time we took new players in, it was hard to decide who was good and who wasnīt an Excesse material. Then the Sunwell Plateau came and it became more and more clear that a huge portion of our players were simply not up to the challenge and even worse, by the time SWP came, we lost around 10 Naxx veterans which you couldnīt replace. Lack of skills, problems with comprehending the basics and problems with computer/connection eventually led to our downfall. Most bosses after Kalecgos were a simple idiot check but when a player fails several times on Encapsulate and Green beam, well, you know the rest of the story. We recruited people but majority of recruits were simply not made for SWL. The Eredar Twins and Mīuru were a dead giveaway of who can or canīt play and for the first time I wasnīt convinced we can clear the instance. The game became a second job for me so in the end I decided to migrate, the rest after that is a known history. So, what happens now? Considering all that *HAS* happened it is clear as day that the number is up and Excesse is nothing more but a lovely memory that did a lot on this server. There simply isnīt anyone mature enough to take up the mantle of the Guildmaster and continue leading the guild as a PVE entity. Current officers have talked a lot and it was decided that even though we wont disband the guild (nobody wants to see some twat taking the name and running around creating a mockery) but we are against of it continuing to be anything but a casual remnant on Burning Legion as the name īExcesseī still means a lot to us. If someone wants to continue, we advise that the players who opt for this make a spin off of Excesse and use a different name. If they want, Iīll continue to maintain Forums and web for them for the time being. In time, we will make some sort of a split with gbank and give cash, gems and pots to players who earned them in a way by their performance and loyalty, feel free to poke me for this online whenever you want.
Some will be sad by this decision but there is nothing to be sad. We survived for more than 3 years and seen pretty much everything in the game.
